Managing Your Email Account Settings
When using a POP3 program, such as Microsoft Outlook, your computer manages how messages are handled on CitEscape's mail server. By default, Outlook deletes messages from the server as soon as they are downloaded to your computer. CitEscape recommends keeping this setting, because it ensure that your mailbox on our server will not become full, resulting in failed delivery of new messages.
To check your settings in Outlook, begin by clicking on the Tools menu. From here, the process varies, depending on which version of Outlook you are using.
OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6: Click on "Accounts" in the Tools menu, then click on the "Mail" tab in the window that pops up. Choose the account for which you want to check your settings, then click "Properties".
OUTLOOK 2003: Click on "Email Accounts" in the Tools menu. Ensure that "View or change existing email accounts" is selected, then click "Next". Choose the account for which you want to check your settings, then click "Change". In the window that pops up, click "More Settings".
OUTLOOK 2007: Click on "Account Settings" in the Tools menu. Choose the account for which you want to check your settings, then click "Change". In the window that pops up, click "More Settings".
ALL VERSIONS: After completing the previous actions, click the "Advanced" tab in the window that pops up. Ensure that "Leave a copy of messages on the server" is UNchecked. This will prevent your mailbox on CitEscape's server from becoming full by ensuring that messages are deleted from the server, after they are downloaded to your computer.
